Weather Watch or Weather Warning
What’s the difference?
Environment Canada weather alerts are described on their webpage ↗
What do they mean for a Work Party?
IF there is an Environment Canada Weather Watch in effect at or near the scheduled start of a Work Party, attendance at the Work Party is OPTIONAL — well, attendance at a Work Party is always optional, of course — but what we mean is that the Work Party “may or may not” take place, however, you are welcome to come on down and find out!
IF there is an Environment Canada Weather Warning in effect at or near the scheduled start of a Work Party, the Work Party will be “officially” cancelled.
What do they mean for the rental gardener?
As a “rental gardener” you may attend the garden whenever you choose — during opening hours — but no representative of the garden, ICG board member or volunteer team leader may ask volunteers to perform a task on behalf of the garden during an Environment Canada Weather Warning advisory.
Having written that — the ICG strongly discourages attendance at the garden during any kind of extreme weather.
