Covid-19 in 2020
Our Goals
Social Responsibility, Physical Distancing and Gardening with and for the Community.
Our Responsibilities
In accordance with municipally, provincially, and federally mandated guidelines the Inglewood Community Garden is developing a set of “access protocols”, attendance schedules for gardeners and volunteers and a communication program to inform our gardeners and the public of the measures we will be taking in order to operate the ICG in the safest manner possible for the foreseeable future.
We will be posting information regarding these measures on this website, as they are adopted by our Board of Directors, and they will be announced on our social media platforms as well, see links below.

Access Protocols and Practice 2020
June 29
As of June 29 the ICG will be extending our access guidelines to accommodate…
ICG Gardeners’ guests
ICG Gardeners and Seconds who have submitted an Access Request Form may attend the Garden with a guest or guests so long as:
-
the Gardener or Second accepts responsibility and liability for their guest(s)
-
the guest or guests are in the company of the Gardener or Second for the duration of their visit
Please note that this extension is strictly limited to the guests of ICG Gardeners and Seconds.
June 12
As of today, June 12, the ICG is operating under the following guidelines.
These guidelines do not replace the terms and conditions of the Access Request Form but are being implemented supplementally to accord with governmental “relaxation” of restrictions.
Garden Access
Gardeners have been provided the combination to the gate padlocks.
Gardeners are no longer required to sign in to the Garden.
Gardener Responsibilities
-
Gardeners — will be individually responsible for maintaining mandated “social distancing” and “tool sanitizing practices” for both themselves and the gardeners around them.
-
Gardeners — must ensure that the gates are locked when they leave the Garden.
Garden Hours: Until Further Notice
8:00 AM until 8:00 PM
May 28
As of today, May 28, the ICG is operating under the following guidelines.
These guidelines do not replace the terms and conditions of the Access Request Form but are being implemented to accord with the general societal “relaxation” of restrictions.
Gardener Responsibilities
-
All gardeners must check in at the gate.
-
Only gardeners who have already submitted an Access Request Form will be granted access.
-
All Primary and Secondary Gardeners — will be individually responsible for maintaining mandated “social distancing” and “sanitizing practices” for both themselves and the gardeners around them.
Garden Hours: May 28 – May 30
We have suspended our online scheduling program as of Tuesday, May 26.
For the remainder of this week, gardeners may access the Garden on the following days at a time of their choice.
• Thursday, May 28 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
• Saturday, May 30 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Garden Hours: June
Actual days and hours — when gardeners can access the ICG at a time of their choice remain to be determined by the Board of Directors but “may” follow this pattern.
• Tuesdays, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
• Thursdays, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
• Saturdays, 10:00 AM to TBD PM
May 25
After consultation with Alberta Health Services, as of June 1, 2020, the ICG will set aside “appointment only” gardening and implement a more “spontaneous” access management system.
Details will be published here, once they have been determined, and in the June 1, Monday Update Newsletter.
May 15
Pursuant to discussions with Alberta Health Services the number of gardeners permitted in the ICG Rental Garden has been increased to a maximum of 24.
The ICG Access Protocols document WILL NOT be edited to reflect this change, for the following reasons:
1. Maintain a consistent standard in the current Access Agreement for all gardeners
2. While “relaxations” of the mandated guidelines can be implemented “in time and place” by the ICG, as they are permitted; the reverse, imposing or reimposing any particular stringencies without the commensurate terms extant in the Access Agreement may prove problematic.
May 4
The ICG Access Protocols are available in PDF format: ICG Access Protocols.pdf
Every gardener and volunteer who chooses to garden in the ICG — during the c19 Gardening Season — will have to acknowledge and accept the finalised version of these Access Protocols, as incorporated in the ICG Access Agreement, in order to be accorded entry to the ICG.
