DESCRIPTION:Ok\, ok … it is “later” in the week (in fact it is Saturday at the moment) and there’s still no update to the Saturday Work Party page. \nTruth is I was in the Garden on Friday looking for things to do and instead of finding any all I did was water veggies in the Communal Garden. \nMy advice now is to just drop by and see what’s up … consider it a sort of “Mystery Tour” of volunteer opportunities. \nBTW … if you’re looking for Shawn he won’t be in the Garden until after the Argentina – Belgium game… and neither will I! \n\n“I don’t know how they can call the Calgary Stampede the “Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth”… surely that would be gardening!” \n~Vic Dessos \n\nYes\, first Saturday of Stampede … but I have no idea what’s supposed to be doing today so here’s a nice photo to look at while I wait for input. \n \nPlease check back later in the week for details. \nThanks. \n\n

DESCRIPTION:Rheum rhababarum\n \nRheum rhubabarum: who knew that Rhubarb had such a mellifluous scientific name? [… rhetorical question] \nHarvesting\nAs it happens much Rhubarb is ready for the second harvest from the planters in the Plot Rental Garden … once again\, rather than opening up a harvesting free for all … the Garden will arrange for bundles of Rheum rhababarum to be made available on a first come first served basis. \nHarvesting will begin at or around 6 PM … if you like to help out or learn how to harvest Rhubarb be at the Garden by  6 PM and look for Elizabeth. \nBundles\nBundles will be collected at and distributed from the Picnic Table area … if you’re not sure where that is – just look for picnic tables with rapidly disappearing bundles of Rhubarb on them as the case is sure to be (considering the last response!) \nThe same good authority who informed about this Rhubarb harvest assures me that the next will not likely take place for at least a month … in advance of which we will post another dance card notice. \nFor those of you unfamiliar with Scottish country dancing … you may find this link reely interesting (sorry\, couldn’t resist).
